Snow Angels & Valentines

The weekend before Valentines Day we had a nice big snow storm. So we thought it would be a good weekend to take the girls out to play in the 12 inches of snow, drink hot chocolate, and open their Valentines. They loved the snow. This was the first year Miss Mackenzie actually liked it. She has always been so prissy about being cold & wet. But she had a blast making snow angels and climbing the big mound of snow at the end of the driveway. Poor Delaney was so bundled up she could hardly move, but she did like slidding down the snow hill and digging with a shovel. the snow was so high in places that we had to carry the girls through..it was so much fun!

Then we headed inside to warm up and give them their presents. In their bags were small Cabage Patch Kids, coloring books, playdoh and small games. But their favorite part was the chocolate and suckers. When Mackenzie found the suckers..that is all she cared about. (as you can tell from her face) Poor Delaney put a huge piece of carmel covered chocolate in her mouth and pretty soon the chocolate was dripping out of her mouth and all over the floor. But her faces were priceless. It was a wonderful family day and we had so much fun!

Meaning behind the name.

The Princess & the Monkey came from this picture taken of our girls. True to form, it shows their personalities perfectly.  Mackenzie dressed as a princess, she is all girl...loves dress up, make up, shoes, purses, babies. She is our little mother and quite the drama queen. And then there's Delaney, squating on top of a table trying to take Mackenzie's food....she is our monkey, very active, mischievous, ornery, fun, happy & always in trouble:)

The girls do and say the funniest things, and I kept saying I needed to start writing things down. So instead I thought I would start a blog about the girls...mostly for me, and for them when they are older. But also for our familys who are spread around the US to keep up with us.

Seems like something funny happens daily, and many things I remember from the last 4 years that I will write about as they come to me. I want to cherish and remember all these amazing moments! They are growing up to fast and I want to "keep" every moment! So to that end....welcome to the world of the Princess & the Monkey!
